City of London Academy Case Study

We asked Nick Kleinhans, Network Manager at the City of London Academy, about for the academy's evaluation of new i-desk installation and here are the responses to each question:
1. What was the problem you were experiencing relating to ICT in your school?
We were a new build and made the decision early on to get the most secure and reliable platform possible for our student computers. i-desk ticked all the right boxes and provided us with reliable computers which are not susceptible to damage from students and almost impossible to steal.
2. What other solutions have you used or considered?
Ergo - SecureDesk amongst others (RM etc).
Build quality was poor, not as robust or practical as I-Desk.
Major savings on cabling cost, flexibility in layout of classrooms, infinite upgrade ability, vandal-proof etc.
5. If you were to recommend i-desk to another school, what would be your best endorsement?
It will save you time and money in the long run, reduce maintenance overheads, minimise damage from users and provide a much more reliable computing platform than any PC or Laptop solution available today.
6. Are there any other additional/unexpected benefits or issues with the i-desk that have become apparent since installation?
No, they have performed as expected. The only thing that has become apparent is that the relatively expensive initial outlay has proved the more economical option in the long term due to decreased maintenance and increased reliability compared to conventional computers.
7. How do you rate your experience with i-desk Solutions and your Account Manager?
Very Good. It was largely thanks to the Account Manager's excellent service that we purchased a large number of non-I-Desk products via the company this year. The prompt responses to queries, competitive pricing and attention to customer satisfaction convinced me to purchase laptops, projectors and standard computers via I-Desk. Without the Account Manager's (Steve Morgan) personal attention & service, I would most likely have purchased the goods from alternative suppliers.
