"Our experience of i-desks in a Children's Centre with children 6 months to 5 years has been very positive. On our old computers we had a number of repair bills due to children putting toys, paper clips, biscuits etc into disk drives. Staff would also decide they wanted to move computers to different parts of the classroom, causing major upheaval with wires trailing etc. There have been no such challenges with the i-desks, as we have a blanking plate over the CD drive and all the wires are neatly enclosed." Background

The CLC were having reliability problems with existing equipment

and wanted something that gave them a dual purpose room yet

was reliable and yet easy to upgrade.

The i-rise desks were used in the D&T area as it gave the CLC

the dual functionality they were looking for.

A hexagonal unit has been

used the Cyber café area. The CLC opted for i-rise row

in a conference style room.

This room is rented out to local businesses

and the rental from this room means

the room has almost paid for itself in

under 12 months.

More i-desks are planned for the future.
